Melrose Family YMCA Celebrates Grand Opening of New State-of-the Art Fitness Center and Facilities
Melrose, MA – The Melrose Family YMCA celebrated the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art fitness center and facilities on Tuesday May 28th with YMCA of Metro North members, local representatives, Melrose Chamber of Commerce, and project team SV Design and R.C. Griffin Construction.
The highly anticipated fitness floor expansion, new studio space, and amenities were designed by architecture and interior design firm, SV Design, and mark a significant milestone in the YMCA’s commitment to providing top-notch facilities and programs to the community.
The new fitness floor boasts a sprawling 6,000 square-feet of space featuring state-of-the-art equipment and amenities to cater to the diverse needs of members. In addition to the expansive fitness center, the project includes a new studio group exercise space, a spacious new family changing room, and a tranquil pool deck sauna for relaxing post-workout. Significant upgrades were made to the pool-level locker rooms to improve functionality, convenience, and privacy, and ADA-accessible showers were installed to promote inclusivity.
“We’re thrilled to unveil these exciting enhancements to our facility, which reflect our ongoing commitment to providing exceptional wellness experiences for our members,” said Katelyn Papadopoulos, Senior Executive Director of the Melrose YMCA. “With the addition of our new fitness floor and amenities, we’re excited to empower individuals of all ages and abilities to pursue their health and fitness goals in a welcoming and supportive environment.”
“This transformative expansion of the Melrose YMCA will support the Y’s mission and enhance its members’ overall health and wellness experience,” said Jen Hocherman, AIA, Principal at SV Design. “SV Design is grateful to be a part of the collaborative team that worked on this cutting-edge facility.”
